MIA

Wow – I haven’t blogged in a while!

Life has been great!  I’ve continued running – not as much as I’d like but we are doing our best to fit it in a few times a week.  I made the mistake of running on the treadmill twice and had a hard time the other day when we tried to run outside.  I told myself that moving forward I will stick to outside running.  On Saturday morning we got up and hit the road and I was able to run the 2.5 miles that I wasn’t able to get thru a few days earlier so I’m glad I pushed myself.  I have never sweated so much – TMI, I know.

We did finish the last 6 episodes of Ugly Betty on this lazy Sunday and I’m so sad to see the show end.  What a fantastic show – I’m so upset that it got canceled.  I don’t know why – I don’t feel like it ever jumped the shark.  I love the writing and the characters and they really did end it well.

Now I’m back into the new fall TV show premieres which keeps me up late at night with my TiVo!  Terrible, I know, but I HATE not watching shows the night they air.I’m excited for Desperate Housewives tonight, aren’t you?

Hockey season is now kicking off with pre-season games.  I was lucky enough to go to one last night and the Sharks won!  Yay!

Ok, well, this was a little grab bag of little nothings.  Just wanted to post an update!

Post 5k Post

Posted Monday, September 6th, 2010 | fitness | (Comments Off)

I’ve had time to let it sink in that yesterday we ran in an “official” 5k and the excitement & the overwhelming feeling of accomplishment is still very much there. We already have our sights set on the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving and I will spend the next few weeks running 3 miles as many times as I can to work on my speed & stamina! I’m not going to lie – running the 3.1 miles yesterday was very difficult.

I’ll post my official race photos when I get them.

For now I’m working, yes, on Labor Day and hoping for a nice quiet day of crossing things off my giant list of “to-do”s today. I’m way behind on work because we literally slept half the day yesterday after the run. Hehe!

TGIF!

I’ve been looking forward to this weekend for months – it’s the weekend of my 5k!

Tomorrow I need to run a few errands, including getting our t-shirts to wear during the race, and picking up our “goodie bags” and bibs for the race. We then are meeting up with friends for a celebratory pasta dinner before coming home early enough to get a nice rest before the race on Sunday morning!

Running BFF and I got in one last run this morning before Sunday’s run and my body was pretty tired. I was able to run the 3 miles on Monday no problem so I hope with plenty of rest and water that the 5k won’t be too bad.

Work is really busy today but I wanted to take a moment to blog since it’s been a few days. I hope everyone has a great & safe holiday weekend!

Week 9 Day 3 aka Graduation

Posted Saturday, August 28th, 2010 | fitness | (1 Comments)

I did it!

Today I did my last run on the Couch to 5k Running Program!  :)

The best part is that I wasn’t even anxiously awaiting for the voice on the app to tell me I was at the halfway point!  She said “halfway!” and I couldn’t believe that I’d already been running for 15 minutes.

Three more runs next week before our 5k on Sunday!  Then we are going to start the Bridge to 10k Program.

I love this new part of my life!

Week 9 Day 2

Posted Thursday, August 26th, 2010 | fitness | (1 Comments)

My alarm went off at 6:30 this morning and I admit that it was really hard to get up.  I think I’m just not a morning person and that’s all there is to it.

We started our run at 7 and I love that it was so cool outside – it’s been in the 95+ range for the last few days.  We tried a different route and I am surprised at how quick the second half of the run went.

I was supposed to run my “graduation run” tomorrow, but because this week got a little off course, we’re going to run it on Saturday morning.

I am still trying to decide what training program I am going to use after this one.  I know there’s a Bridge to 10k program.  Maybe that?

I also signed up for DailyMile.com and am logging my overall mileage there.  DailyMile.com offers some great stats: I’ve gone about 55 miles so far in my training, been running for over 12 hours total, and I’ve burned enough calories to earn 54 donuts! lol

Week 9 Day 1

Week 9 started today with a great 30 minute run with Chris & my Running BFF.

We’ve got 2 weeks left until we run our 5k and I’m really excited because I feel like I’ll be able to run the whole thing.  I’m researching stretching right now and want to make sure I do all I can to get through the 5k as easily as possible.

Looking forward to letting my body rest before Wednesday’s  run and Friday’s GRADUATION RUN!

Week 8 Day 2

Posted Wednesday, August 18th, 2010 | fitness | (2 Comments)

I’m back from my Week 8 Day 2 run and wanted to blog before starting the craziness that is today!

Due to scheduling issues, I was on my own for today’s run.  Just me and Rob Thomas.

Today was a big deal because after I hit the 28 minute mark - I KEPT RUNNING!  I ran an extra two minutes because.. well.. my legs were going and I didn’t want to stop them.  I could have kept going, but I didn’t want to overdo it.  This makes me so excited because next week is three 30 minute runs before I graduate the program and now I know I CAN DO IT!

I can’t believe I only have four runs left before I graduate the Couch to 5k Program!  Thinking of starting this program?  DO IT.  I highly recommend it.  If I can do it, you can too!

Over & out.

Week 8 Day 1

Week 8 has officially begun!

I woke up really groggy but promised myself that running this morning had to be a priority so I just got up and got ready and hit the pavement with the Boyfriend.  I mapped a route for us but was so zoned into the run that I got confused and we ended up having to get creative with our route to get home.

This morning I had Fleetwood Mac to keep me entertained on my iPhone.  I was really able to just push myself and not worry too much about how much time was left.  I’m so proud of how far I have come.  It’s almost unfathomable at the thought of running 28 minutes.  BUT, I also know if I had to – I could have run another 2 and hit 30 minutes.  But that’s next week and I want to follow the program to a T.

Next run Wednesday and finishing up the week on Friday.  Next week is the final week.  This seems like a dream!

Week 7 Day 3

Week 7 of Couch to 5K is done!

Had a set back yesterday and had to put off day 3 until today.  I don’t know if it was the extra day of rest, but I was able to keep up an awesome pace for the first 15 minutes of running.

Chris exclaimed that this run “WAS EASY!” but I wouldn’t go that far. lol  I definitely can tell that my body is getting more and more used to these workouts and I’m so excited.  I’m also glad that the two of us are finally working out on a regular basis and have found something we can both do!

I also miss my running BFF and can’t wait for her to get back from her trip.  I hope she has a great Week 7 ending as well!

One day off – and then on Monday, Week 8 starts and it’s up to 28 minutes of running!

Week 6 Day 3

This post brought to you by the letter F.  For FRUSTRATED.  Or other F words.  I’ll let you use your imagination!

Today finished Week 6 of the Couch to 5k program.  I was only able to make it to the 20 minute mark of running and got a horrible side cramp.  I wanted to keep going and finish that last 5 minutes but it felt like I had totally hit a physical & emotional wall.  I broke down a bit when I couldn’t finish.  I know I shouldn’t be so hard on myself but I was so close – yet so far.

Monday starts 3 days of running for 25 minutes next week so I have more chances to redeem myself.  Congrats to my BRFF (best running friend forever lol) for doing great today and completing the run!  Chris also did a great job by running the 20 minutes with me after only doing a few days of the program!

I wore my Oscar the Grouch shirt while I ran – how appropriate!

Emo girl, out.
