Week 4 and 5 of Weight Watchers

Posted Monday, December 13th, 2010 | Leslie | misc | (1 Comments)

Yikes – I need to update you all more often!

I’m still plugging along on Weight Watchers and since my last post, I have lost 2.5 pounds! I lost 1 pound last week and 1.5 pounds at this week’s weigh in. I’m now down 8.5 pounds! Exciting, right? Well – it is. lol

I make a promise to myself to NOT PEEK at the scale at all until next Monday morning. I promise. I always peek and my weight fluctuates so much that it can discourage me. So this week I will be good to myself and not allow myself to be discouraged.

Here goes week 6!

Tis The Season

Happy last day of November!  I don’t know what it is but I’m totally in the holiday spirit this year!  I don’t normally decorate our house so much but I think that I have to make up for the fact that I don’t have a cubicle to decorate this year.  Yesterday I set out to get us a Christmas tree.  We normally don’t put one up but this year I was determined.  I’ve been trying to be good about money so I was happy to put together a tree I love with little money!

The ornaments and tinsel are from Big Lots and only cost me $13.  I have enough to decorate 3 more trees!  Hehe!  The tree itself is a 4ft fake beauty that I got on sale at Michael’s for a little over $20.  The tree came out exactly how I pictured it in my mind and for like 35 bucks!

I also love that because the ornaments & tinsel were so inexpensive, we could have a different color scheme each year!

Week 3 of Weight Watchers

Sorry to only post about WW.  I promise to add more content that doesn’t revolve around me being fat. ;)

Week 3 weigh in came as quite the surprise.  It was Thanksgiving week and although I made good choices – you never know.

I’m proud to let you know that I am down another 2 lbs!  Bringing my total weight loss for 3 weeks to 6 pounds!

I’ve got a lot of work to get done before my kickboxing class at 5:30.   Adios!

Week 2 of Weight Watchers

Posted Monday, November 22nd, 2010 | Leslie | misc | (Comments Off)

Today was my 2nd weigh in.  I was nervous because I’d peeked a few times during the week but I’m happy to report that I…

Lost 1 pound!

I know 1 pound doesn’t seem like a lot but it’s a slow process and each pound counts.  Heck, each half pound counts.  That puts me at a 4 lb loss with 36 left to go.

This week I plan to drink more water and get exercise in!  Also, we are going to run 3 miles on Thanksgiving morning and eat yummy food but I promise to be sensible.  We gotta treat ourselves, right?  I just can treat myself without pigging out!

Weight Watchin’

Posted Wednesday, November 10th, 2010 | Leslie | misc | (4 Comments)

Today, I signed up again for Weight Watchers. I used to be on WW a few years ago and had GREAT success! I’ve tried it a few times but gave up right away. I’m trying to promise myself to stick with it this time.

I’ve set up my account and am all ready. I started today and was able to get in an hour walk this afternoon with Chris. I also made a trip to the grocery store and loaded up on tons of good & healthy foods.

I’m hoping to lose 40 lbs but I’m going to just see how this goes. Wish me luck!

LeAnn Rimes Sings About Crazy Women

Posted Tuesday, November 9th, 2010 | Leslie | misc | (Comments Off)

LeAnn Rimes’ new song hits radio this week. Click below to listen to Crazy Women. Lyrics are also below:

Who’da guessed that Aqua Net
Could start a fire with a single cigarette
No, she wasn’t drunk, she wasn’t stoned
Just sick and tired of wondering if he was comin’ home

She drove around, she found his car
They heard the boom from in the bar
Well, he called the cops, she called his bluff
They hauled her off in high heels and handcuffs

Crazy women, ex-wives and old girlfriends
Keep their crazy hidden til they’re pushed off the deep end
Oh yeah, God forgive ‘em, they weren’t born like this
Oh no, crazy women are made by crazy men

Well, he told his friends she was depressed
Borderline bipolar bitch with PMS
Well, he cheats and lies and then plays the victim
He don’t know why they always seem to pick him

Crazy women, ex-wives and old girlfriends
Keep their crazy hidden til they’re pushed off the deep end
Oh yeah, God forgive ‘em, they weren’t born like this
Oh no, crazy women are made by crazy men

Some take a pistol; some take an axe
And boy if you feel the fire, you better bet she’s got a match
It might be the teacher, just down the street
The hairdresser, or the housewife, or the waitress that’s so sweet

No you won’t see it when you meet her
So be careful how you treat her
Cuz she might look just like me

Crazy women, ex-wives and old girlfriends
Keep our crazy hidden til we’re pushed off the deep end
Oh yeah, God forgive us, even though some weren’t born like this
God knows, crazy women are made by crazy men

Twelve Days of Christmas

Posted Tuesday, November 9th, 2010 | misc | (2 Comments)

Last year, an older male coworker told a friend of mine and I a great idea for the holidays that I’m going to share with you.

It’s the Twelve Days of Christmas. You gift your significant other a small gift each day for twelve days. My friend and I were so excited to do this for our guys! We shopped together and shared our ideas. We bought business card paper and made little tags for each day to tie on the gifts. It was easy to find Xmas clip art online and make the little tags that read “on the first day of Christmas…” and so on.

I gifted Boyfriend small gifts like gloves, a picture frame, hand warmers..etc. The good thing is that they don’t have to be big expensive gifts. They can be just little tokens or things that they need.

The Twelve Days of Christmas went over very well and it was even more fun for me to try and come up with twelve small gifts.

Where Have You Been?

More like.. where have I been?

I realize I haven’t blogged in a few weeks – bad Leslie!

This past week we were busy entertaining out of town guests. It’s nice to have people visit who haven’t ever been to the Bay Area because it’s an excuse to do all the fun touristy things! We were able to go to the Tech Museum, Winchester Mystery House, Egyptian Museum, Rose Garden, California Academy of Science, Pier 39, and walk across the Golden Gate Bridge.

We’re back onto our regular schedule this week so I’ve got an arms length list of errands.

I can’t believe Christmas is almost here! I decided that this year, I’m going to get us a cute tree and decorate it. Our place is really small but I really want to have a tree – so I’ll make room!

Last week I was able to decorate our fireplace mantle for fall and I just love how happy it makes me.

46 days until Christmas! Yikes!

Upgrade!

When we arrived at our room on Saturday at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas, we had a huge surprise!

Let me back up – when we checked in, the guy who worked there gave us our room keys and when he went to show us our room number, he said “oh! you guys are the lucky ones! Enjoy your room!” We were too tired to press for more information and headed to our room.

When we arrived at the door, the room had a name. Besides having a number it had a sign on the door that said Le Mans. I thought that was odd because none of the other rooms had a plaque with a name on the door.

When we went in we were overwhelmed with what we saw. It was a beautiful room. We always book the cheapest rooms available and it was apparent that this was not the room we originally booked!

The room had a small “living room” area with places to sit with a coffee table and a flat screen TV. It also had a full bar with a fridge, sink, and coffee maker. I noticed a doorway so I assumed it was the restroom.

The doorway led to a hallway. On the left was the bathroom (pictured below) with a whirlpool tub and his & her’s sinks. To the right of the bathroom was a toilet closet with a toilet & bidet.

When you went right in the hallway you were led to a vanity area as well as a walk in closet!

I picked up the phone and called the front desk – I was SURE there was a mistake!

The helpful woman assured me that there was no mistake and that we were upgraded because of occupancy issues. She ended the call with “Have a great vacation at Paris!”

What a great surprise and it really did make our vacation amazing from the start! We were exhausted when we got to the room but the excitement of our over-700-square-foot suite made us kinda amped so we ended up heading down to the casino for a snack and a little bit of people watching.

I’ve never had this kinda thing happen to me before and it really made my day!

Barista Conversation

Posted Tuesday, September 28th, 2010 | Leslie | misc | (4 Comments)

Me: Can I please get a grande iced chai with non-fat milk please?
Starbucks Barista: Chai?  Sure!  What size?
Me: Grande, please.
Barista: Great!  Is 2 percent milk ok?
Me: Non-fat, please.
Barista: Great!  Did you say you wanted vanilla?  It’s so tasty!
Me: No thanks.
Barista:  Let me make it for you – it’s tasty!  It’s free if you don’t like it!
Me:  Ok… I’ll try it!
Barista:  Ok, is 2 percent milk ok?
Me:  Non-fat milk, please…
Barista:  Ok, great!

I found humor, not so much frustration, in the above situation.  I think it mostly has to do with the fact that I, myself, don’t listen to people very well so if I were a barista, I’d do the same thing!  I guess it’s just odd because every other Starbucks I’ve been to – they’re pretty good at getting the order right off the bat.  Anyway, I did get my coffee – thank goodness for everyone involved! :)   And the vanilla, it WAS tasty!  ;)
